Credit Resources
Because of the nature of our business, regulations prohibit credit repair companies from being able to generate consumer credit reports or credit scores. If you do not have a copy of your recent credit report or would simply like to review your credit standing, the following is a list of web links and other resources available to you.
Federal Law mandates that your credit report be made available at no cost to you on an annual basis. The three major credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax and TransUnion all provide and report your information to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp which is where you can obtain a free copy of your credit report. You are entitled to one free credit report, per bureau, per year from this site. Please note that when considering this option your credit scores will not be provided as that is a separate service as described below.
Credit Scores
Most consumers assume that credit scores automatically generate when a credit report is ordered. The fact of the matter is that they are two separate services that in most cases get ordered simultaneously and merge the information onto one report. Unlike your credit report, Federal Law does not mandate or entitle consumers to receive their credit scores. There are literally thousands of credit scoring companies and models offered to a consumer depending on the source of the credit report being pulled. The Fair Isaac Corporation was the original pioneer who developed the FICO scoring model which is the most commonly recognized and utilized credit score used industry wide. Outside of going through a mortgage lender, the only place a consumer can purchase their FICO scores is by ordering through www.myfico.com. When ordering through this site you will need a promotion code which is FICO.
Credit.com is an additional resource you can use for your credit reporting and scoring needs. Through this site you will have the ability to purchase your credit report and scores, but note that only two of the three will be your true FICO scores as one of the bureaus provides a score based upon their own proprietary scoring model. Although proprietary, the bureaus model is very similar in scoring values to FICO, thus should not dissuade you from selecting this site to obtain your information unless you specifically need all three scores to be FICO generated. By ordering through credit.com you will also be given access to their site that hosts a wealth of information and provides additional services for your consideration that may be of further benefit to you. This company is highly recommended and fully endorsed by RE Credit Repair, LLC as your primary credit reporting and scoring resource.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is the law that governs the credit bureaus and protects consumers against unfair credit reporting practices.
